2021-2023
We wanted to do a cars/racing theme for our Fall '23 Rush. Capitalizing on racing's continued rise in popular culture and motivated by our members' shared affinity for cars, we wanted to make a sleek, eye-catching design to promote our Rush Week on campus and due to budget constraints had to do this with no more than 2-3 colors. In my research I came across a lot of familiar racing imagery like checkered flags, racing stripes, tires, vintage cars, pit crews, etc. I started compiling resources with the vision to create a compose some of these design icons and themes for our purpose. The front and back designs both went through multiple iterations as I communicated with the rest of the team. For the front, I incorporated a flag in the text and added flames in the back, finish it off with a star on the right to maintain symmetry and also because the star is incorporated in many of our designs. For the back, I knew I wanted to have at least one car but the idea of two cars only came up in later iterations. I had seen images of two cars simultaneously drifting in a circle almost as if chasing each other, but the idea of actually putting it on the t-shirt only came later. The design became more artistic and I finished it with title text across the center, designed carefully to add in to the overall movement of the back design.
I came up with a retro gaming/Nintendo theme for our Fall '22 Rush. The y2k aesthetic has been prevalent across popular culture since the turn of the century and continues to be seen across and art and design media today. My goal was to create a pleasing t-shirt design for our purposes, that would make use of y2k and vintage video-game aesthetics. For the front, I designed a logo with thick strokes blanketing and highlighting the text and again incorporating the stars as part of a halo around the text. I had multiple separate designs and not a consolidated single one for the back so I made the box and fit them all inside. The lion, the signature animal of the fraternity, was from another design with much more detail on its body but I only kept the essentials for the t-shirt. The big text in Japanese was to add to the aesthetic, and translated to English they mean "brotherhood of kings", a slogan associated with the org.
We made a clean and simple polo for professional or formal events and here are some sweater concepts.
For our flag, we wanted to make a design with our three letters and using our theme colors, blue and silver. I also added other branding elements of the fraternity to the letters. I added a crown, our three pillars, five stars (symbolic), and a lion's scratch.
